My Time in Antigonish
A response to William Hughes Mearns' Antigonish
Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there!
He wasn't there again today,
I wish, I wish he'd go away!
When I came home last night at three,
Another burden was placed on me,
I saw the man, clear and tall,
He couldn't see me, though, at all.
Go away, go away, let me stay forevermore,
Go away, go away, don't make me slam the door...
Tonight, the man upon the stair
Saw me, but I wasn't there,
I wasn't there again today,
Oh, how I wish he'd go away...
